When measurement becomes a strategic lever for performance and risk control.

Qalia Performance:
At the heart of the standard
Our credibility on ISO 10012 is not that of a service provider interpreting a text. It rests on a direct contribution to writing it.
- Project Leader for the ISO 10012 revision: QALIA Performance took part in the international ISO committee as Project Leader. We helped define the direction, requirements and structure of the 2026 edition.
- Liaison Representative ISO/TC 176 SC3 – SC2: Grégory Charpentier, founder of QALIA, acts as liaison between the committee responsible for ISO 10012 and the committee responsible for ISO 9001. A unique position from which to understand how measurement management and quality management fit together.
- Field expertise: our knowledge of the standard comes from drafting it, informed by years of supporting industrial organisations in highly demanding sectors.
This close involvement with the standard also shapes our consulting approach. We do not apply a generic model: every engagement is grounded in an understanding of how your organisation actually works, and built on our Q-SYNQ® methodology.
Why ISO 10012
Metrology is too often reduced to equipment management: a fleet of instruments, calibration records, schedules. This fragmented view misses the essential point: measurement is a process in its own right, which must be designed, managed and improved as such.
ISO 10012 provides that framework. It structures the measurement management system around the issues that really matter: controlling measurement uncertainty in conformity decisions, applying a risk-based approach to the measurement process, optimising calibration intervals on the basis of objective data, and designing measurement processes from the very start of product and service development.
With the publication of ISO 10012:2026, measurement management reaches a decisive milestone. The standard no longer simply manages instruments: it calls for a strategic approach, aligned with the harmonised structure (HS) of management system standards and fully integrable into your existing QMS.
ISO 10012 and ISO 9001:
complement, not complication
ISO 9001 requires control of monitoring and measuring equipment, but does not specify how to structure that control systematically. ISO 10012 provides this methodological framework. It does not replace ISO 9001 or ISO 17025: it complements them.
This is precisely the interface Grégory Charpentier works on every day as Liaison Representative between the two ISO committees concerned. Aligned with the harmonised structure (HS), ISO 10012:2026 integrates naturally into your existing quality management system, whether you are certified to ISO 9001, EN 9100, ISO 19443 or IATF 16949.
Which organisations is it for?
ISO 10012 is relevant to any organisation where measurement affects product conformity, process safety or decision-making:
- Aerospace and defence: metrological traceability, EN 9100, NADCAP
- Nuclear: measurement reliability, safety, ISO 19443
- Automotive: IATF 16949, measurement systems analysis (MSA)
- Medical devices: ISO 13485, regulatory compliance
- Testing and calibration laboratories: a complement to ISO 17025
- Manufacturing industry: wherever conformity decisions rely on measurement results
Our ISO 10012 support
Consulting and implementation: diagnosis of your measurement management system, gap identification, and a roadmap tailored to your industrial context and to the 2026 edition. We work on measurement process design, uncertainty evaluation, calibration interval optimisation and the integration of risk-based decision rules.
Audit and assessment: an audit of your MMS that goes beyond document review: maturity of practices, consistency of metrological requirements, risk-based approach applied to measurement, integration into the overall management system.
Training: designed and delivered by experts who took part in revising the standard. Understanding the intent of the standard, not just its wording.
